  Leicestershire Bouldering
Timberwood Hill
Pretend you're in Yorkshire

The closest you can get to moorland bouldering without leaving Leicestershire. A few small boulder problems are scattered around the hillside.

Route descriptions can be found on the crag's entry on UKClimbing.

Parking: Park on the road between Copt Oak and Bardon (52.719472, -1.302278).

Approach: Walk down the public bridleway until the footpath splits, take the left path past the information board about the new plantation. Walk north and then west along the plantation towards Timberwood Hill which should be visible in front of you. Head through a gate and around a drystone wall  to access the crag. ViewRanger Map.

What beauty in the old, grey, storm-beaten rocks, imbedded in the mossy turf of brilliant green, enriched with purple heather and the splendour of the ever blooming gorse, amidst a broad expanse of waving fern! All is redolent of purity and health, disposing us to forgetfulness of sordid care and sorrow, raising the soul that is in harmony with good, to higher aspirations.
- A Companion to Charnwood Forest, J. Spanton (1868)
The neighbourhood of Timberwood Hill is strewn in some places to a great depth with looe fragments and blocks, in such a manner as to suggest a powerful transporting agency.
- The Scenery of England and Wales, D. Mackintosh (1869)
