The ‘Bomb Rocks’ locality is a remarkable exposure of very coarsely fragmental volcanic rocks. It was given this name by Watts (1947), because he thought that the large fragments seen in this rock had fallen through the air as volcanic bombs.
The “Bomb Rocks” are now thought to be due to abrasive rounding in a volcanic vent, not to explosive eruption.
