A little bouldering and a good dyno a short distance outside Markfield and a couple of minutes drive from the M1 (J22). A nice place to stop and break up a journey, or somewhere to pop into after a trip to Forest Rock or Markfield Quarry. The Altar Stones are a biological SSSI so please do not remove lichen from the rocks.

  • Eucharist - f6C+ - Starting on the right-hand block, dyno past the obvious blank projecting wall to the lip (video). Yellow dots on picture.
  • New Kids on the Block - f7A - As for Eucharist but starting on the left-hand block. Red dots on picture.
  • Pop Culture - f6A - From the left hand block climb to the top avoiding the big holds round the back of the left arête.​ Blue dots on picture.
Holly Area (52.69392, -1.28425)
Hidden away at the north east of the crag close to a dry stone wall.
  • Holly Wall - 4 - Climb the left hand wall.
  • Holly Problem 6A - Sit start the overhanging featured wall under the holly. Eliminate the arête for bonus points (video).
Nearby are the Altar Stones with a spectacular fractured cockscomb ridge which, sadly, gives no climbing.
